Hey, you know the drill by now.
I've been trying to find motivation to work on a project that I could use to learn Spriter Pro, but my job has kept me pretty busy. There was some projects that needed to be completed at my workplace, short deadlines, pushy customers, and our Project Manager has left. Now I'm the Project Manager, but only temporarily, as my employer finds someone else for the job; though, I think I got the experience and skills to handle the job.
Anyway, you didn't come here to read about my professional life. I'm hoping you're here to see what fun stuff I'm creating. So, to help get me motivated, I decided to find another Game Jam to join to give me an incentive to work on something. I think I found the perfect jam: Metroidvania Month 7! It's another Game Jam hosted on itch.io and I'm liking that it's not going to force me to do a theme. Well, besides the fact that it forces me to make a game of a certain genre. I already have an idea, but I'm still ironing and testing the idea out in my head.
I also want to try to create another game as a test experiment for my theory of having a Parent Class called Player, and then using Children of that Player Class as different playable characters with their own unique moves. I think trying to come up with a Mega Man X fan game was a bit too much for that: I wanted to come up with a story, characters, power-ups, multiple stages, etc. I just need something that is "story-light" and simple to test my theory. I think something along the lines of a fighting game might do: either a one stage version of Super Smash Brothers or Street Fighter. It would also be a nice test bed for having the camera zoom in and out to keep multiple characters on the screen.
